Exemptions are the property that you are allowed to exempt or protect from creditors after filing for bankruptcy. There are some debts
which you will not be able to erase in bankruptcy. An exemption limit applies to the equity you have in the property. Equity is the
difference between the value of the property and what is owed on the property.
If your vehicle or home is secured by a loan, and you are current on the payments, the equity is covered by your exemptions. If you
elect to continue making payments on the loan you can usually keep this property through the bankruptcy.
