Debt Collection Harassment is against the Law and our Tampa Attorneys can help you sue debt collectors who are harassing you.
Federal law permits individuals, and groups of individuals to sue collection agencies who are practicing unfair or
harassing debt collection. But you must sue within one year of any alleged violation of your rights.
You can only recover damages suffered, plus an additional amount of up to $1,000 but you may also recover court
costs and attorneys fees.

TOPICS IN THIS SECTION
In a class action suit which is filed by a group of people, the group may recover up to one percent of the collection
agency’s worth, or, $500,000, whichever is less.
It may be difficult to prove that your rights were violated, and the burden of proof will be on you. It is imperative that
you keep very detailed records of the dates and times the collector contacts you. Record the names and the phone
numbers from where the calls came from. Also take notes during the conversation to record as much of what was
said as possible, especially if the debt collector uses profanity or threatens you.
It is a good idea to let a debt collector that is harassing you know that you are aware of all your rights, including the
right to sue. But it is never a good idea to threaten to sue unless you really intend to do so.
If a debt collector continue to harass you, or, their activities have already caused you harm, Please call (813) 876-
3328 to schedule a free consultation with Attorneys and Debt Counselors today for a free consultation.

Can a debt collector contact me at work?
No, collectors may not contact you at work if they’re told (orally or in writing) that you’re not allowed to get calls there. Also, other than
to obtain location information about you, a debt collector generally is not permitted to discuss your debt with anyone other than you,
your spouse, or your attorney. .
